Tutorial Steampunk Business Card Case

Polymer clay and resin tutorial explaining how to decorate a blank business card case in Steampunk style is now available in my Etsy shop and on my site, PolymerTutorials.com

I also have metal blank business card cases there and the two-part epoxy resin needed to complete this project.

This project was fisrt published in Polymer Cafe in 2009.

Now  I edited it to put it into my usual step-by-step format and added more pictures.

Coming Soon: New Catalog

My husband and I are working on a new version of my on-line catalog of polymer clay tutorials. The picture above is a snapshot of an individual tutorial page in the new catalog. Currently I offer these tutorials through my web site, PolymerTutorials.com. I did all programming there myself, from scratch. While I am obviously proud of that achievement, I also know that quite a few things can be improved on my web site, and the catalog is number one of them.

We are installing a commercial shopping cart that will allow my customers to see the tutorials instantaneously in their accounts. Right now I have a system that e-mails the files as soon as a PayPal notification about the payment is received. Every so often these e-mails land in bulk e-mail boxes or do not get delivered because of various safety features in my customers' e-mails (such as restrictions on attachments, for example). I hope that the new system will make the future shopping experience on my web site much smoother.

Stay tuned for the grand opening announcement! We plan to have the catalog fully functional in about two or three weeks.

Two More Polymer Clay Vases

Here are two more polymer clay vessels I mentioned earlier this week.  The first one has amethyst inlays and hand-sculpted leaves and lilac flowers.  I am currently working on a step-by-step tutorial explaining how to make a vase like this.

The second vase has a white clay base with crystal quartz chips.  The leaves are made out of two complimentary leaf canes.  These leaf canes (and many more) are described in my Polymer Clay Leaf Canes tutorial.  There are also emerald green Swarovski crystals among the leaves.

New Vase: a Gift for a Friend

This new polymer clay vase is a gift for my friend.  I just finished it last week.  In fact, I made three vases, all with different variations of polymer clay-covered base and sculpted leaves. I will show the other two later this week.  This red one is about 3" tall.  The base is covered with black polymer clay treated with gold acrylic paint.  This teachnique is described in my Tutorial Polymer Clay and Pearls Vase.  The leaves are made using one black and burgundy polymer clay cane.  You may learn how to make leaf canes following my Polymer Clay Tutorial Millefiori Leaf Canes.
